December 3, 2005—The Gueydan Museum hosted a Christmas display tonight from 6 to 9 p.m.  The main attractions were the several magnificently decorated Christmas trees.  Some were decorated in a traditional style, other in more imaginative and modern styles.

Also on display were some of the fine woodcarvings of J. Boatner Hebert, and some of the artworks of other local Gueydan artists.  A historical display on the back wall of the museum was devoted to the 1940 flood in Gueydan, including photographs, contemporary newspaper stories, and other information.

The curator, Robert Baxter, was the motivating force behind the event.  He handed out several "Angel Awards" to thank the people whose help he relied on to make the display a success.
